BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – Four LIU Post student athletes were honored with weekly awards as the Northeast-10 announced LIU Post graduate student quarterback
Chris Laviano as its Offensive Player of the Week while the East Coast Conference announced men's soccer graduate student forward
Lukas Ostermann as the league's Offensive Player of the Week for the second-straight week and women's cross country freshman duo
Margaret McKeever and
Anita Mikowski as Runner and Freshman of the Week on Sept. 17.
In the Pioneer football team's 27-7 win over Stonehill College Lavaino threw for three touchdowns and rushed for one. He completed 25 of his 34 pass attempts and added 46 yards rushing. Laviano is currently third in the conference in passing yards per game with 215.0 and fourth in touchdowns with four.
Ostermann, earning the award for the second week in a row, led the men's soccer team to a 3-0 victory over the University of Bridgeport on Sept. 15, scoring two goals. He currently leads the ECC in goals with seven and in points with 17.
Competing at the New York Institute of Technology Invitational, McKeever finished seventh in the 5K and first among non-division I participants after clocking in at 19:30.41 seconds. Mikowski finished 13
th and third among non-division 1 participants with a personal best time of 20:05.98 seconds. The duo helped the women's cross country team finish third of eight teams.
The Pioneer football team plays next when it returns to Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium on Sept. 22 to host Bentley University. The men's soccer team and women's cross-country team are also both in action next on Sept. 22 with the men's soccer taking on Molloy College at 12:00 p.m. and the women's cross country team hosting the LIU Post Invitational at the LIU Cross Country Course at 10:00 a.m.
