BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – Sophomore Sydney Pasquarella scored twice, and freshman Emily Tirado scored her first career goal to lead the LIU Post women's soccer team past Wilmington University, 4-1 in non-conference play.

Junior Julia Duffy added the final tally for the Pioneers who outshot the Wildcats 20-4 on the afternoon. LIU Post also held a significant 8-0 edge in corner kicks and senior goalkeeper Hillevi Eklow needed just one save to earn the victory in goal.

It took less than 10 minutes for Pasquarella to give the Green and Gold the lead, capitalizing on a loose ball in the box for her first tally of the season. The Wildcats answered quickly, scoring on their first shot attempt of the day less than three minutes later on Jessica Unsihuay's third goal of the season.

Wildcat goalkeeper Kate Turbo made three saves to keep the Pioneer attack at bay, but her efforts were finally curved when Duffy headed home a free-kick taken by redshirt-junior Alice Schoinfeldt. The second strike was enough to give the Pioneers a 2-1 lead at the half.

Pasquarella continued to roll in the second half, taking a pass from classmate Erin O'Connor and finding the back of the net for the second time on the day to give LIU Post a 3-1 advantage. The Green and Gold tallied 12 shots during the final 45 minutes, scoring on their final attempt when Tirado ripped a shot from 25 yards out for her first career strike.

With the win, LIU Post improves to 3-2 on the season while Wilmington drops to 3-5.

The Pioneers return to action on Saturday, Sept. 22 at Molloy College. Kickoff is slated for 3:00 p.m. following the conclusion of the men's soccer matchup.
