OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. – The LIU Post women's tennis team suffered its first East Coast Conference defeat of the season Saturday, falling to neighboring New York Institute of Technology, 7-0.
 
During doubles play, the pairings of senior Shanice Arthur and sophomore Veronika Koudelkova, along with junior Charlotte Hynes and sophomore Christina Jud came up short by a 6-2 decision to the Bears.
 
Arthur battled at No. 1 singles, falling 6-0, 6-3, 10-6 to Barbie Quagliardi. The Bears eventually swept the singles matches, using a forfeit due to injury at No. 3 singles to secure the victory.
 
The Pioneers return to action at Molloy College on Friday, Sept. 28 at Eisenhower Park.
