AMHERST, N.Y. – After defeating Roberts Wesleyan College last night, the LIU Post women's volleyball team could do not do the same Saturday as it suffered a 3-1 (25-20, 20-25, 25-23, 29-27) setback against Daemen College (9-7, 3-0) inside Lumsden Gymnasium.
LIU Post moves to 10-6 overall and 2-1 in East Coast Conference (ECC) play.
Match Rewind
Daemen took the early advantage as they used a 6-0 run to race out to an 8-2 lead in the opening set. The Pioneers tried battling their way back into the set; down 18-12 the Wildcats went on a 4-0 run that gave them a 22-12 lead and proceeded to win the set 25-12.

Samantha Colombo got the Pioneers on the scoreboard in the second set and did not take long for LIU Post to take the lead; a kill by senior

Kassie Akouri-Tejedor keyed a 3-0 run that also featured a kill by senior
Rachel Londot and a Wildcat attacking error that gave the Pioneers a 4-2 lead. Daemen then took the lead 7-6 but LIU Post responded with a 5-0 run featuring a kill by freshman
Kiora Ridgeway, a pair of service aces by Londot along with a service error and an attacking error by Daemen. The Wildcats were resilient and narrowed LIU Post's lead to 11-10 but the Pioneers would go on a another 5-0 run that featured a pair of kills by senior
Giulia Genna, a double block by Ridgeway and Strange, a kill by junior
Samantha Colombo and a service ace by junior

LIU Post picked up where it left off in the second set start to start the third; it jumped out to a 4-0 lead thanks to a Daemen attacking error, an Akouri-Tejedor service ace, a Strange kill and a bad set by the Wildcats. The set then turned in to a back-and-forth battle as the Pioneers led 11-7 until Daemen went on a 6-0 run that gave them a 13-11 lead. LIU Post tied the score 14-14 thanks to kills by Londot and junior
Lea Brady but a 3-0 Daemen run gave them the advantage again; the Wildcats would go on to win the set 25-23.
Londot opened the fourth set with a kill from an Akouri-Tejedor assist and the Pioneers used a 5-0 run keyed by back-to-back sophomore

Allie Ahearne service ace, a Brady kill and a Wildcat attacking error to take a 6-1 lead. Daemen would go on to tie the set 7-7 and eventually take a 22-18 lead. LIU Post would then tie the score 22-22 after back-to-back kills by Londot, a kill by Akouri-Tejedor and a Daemen bad set. The Wildcats then took a 25-24 lead but a Colombo kill and a Colombo ace saw LIU Post take a 26-25 lead. A kill by Londot tied the score 27-27 but Daemen went on to win 29-27.

- Londot had a double-double for the second match in a row as she had team-highs in kills with 17 and digs with 15
- Akouri Tejedor finished with a team-high 27 assists
- Colombo added a double-double with 11 kills on a .300 attacking percentage and 11 digs
- Kloos finished with 12 kills
