BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The LIU Post women's tennis team opened the season with a 4-3 victory against St. Thomas Aquinas College Sept. 8 at the LIU Post Tennis Courts.
The Pioneers improve to 1-0 to begin the year overall and 1-0 in East Coast Conference play, while the Spartans drop to 0-1 overall and 0-1 in league play.
Despite dropping a point in the doubles section of the match, the Pioneers stormed back with four singles victories to clinch the win. Senior
Shanice Arthur opened play with a 6-3, 6-1 decision at No. 1 singles against Cassandra Rohr to earn the first Pioneer point of the day. Sophomore
Veronika Koudelkova followed suit with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles, while junior
Charlotte Hynes came from behind to take down Chiara Dittrich (2-6, 6-2, 6-4) at No. 3 singles.

Christina Jud earned the clinching point for LIU Post, defeating St. Thomas Aquinas' Anna Ristova (6-1, 6-1) at No. 4 singles.
The Pioneers return to the court on Tuesday, Sept. 11 when they host Post University at 3:00 p.m.
