BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The No. 6/5 LIU Post women's lacrosse team rolled past Southern Connecticut State University 15-5 in non-conference action at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium on Wednesday, Feb. 27.
A dominant first half performance set the tone for the game as the Pioneers jumped out to a 10-0 lead at the midway point and carried the momentum to their second victory in as many games to begin the season. Junior
Brianna Feldman opened the scoring just 37 seconds into the contest after dodging past a defender and burying a low shot. The Pioneers eventually scored three goals in a 3:03 span behind two tallies by senior
Trish Brisotti and a solo strike by Feldman. Juniors
Angela Deren and
Jenna Doherty put home their first goals of the season during the opening period to help the Pioneers claim the double-digit advantage.
After extending the lead to 13-0, Southern Connecticut State got on the board with its first goal at the 18:05 mark of the half. The Owls tallied two unanswered goals and eventually found the back of the net for a third time with 14 minutes remaining. Junior
Alyssa Mallery tallied her sixth goal of the day for the final Pioneer goal and Southern Connecticut State tacked on two goals late for the 15-5 final.
Mallery led LIU Post with six goals on the day, while Deren tallied four assists. Junior

The Pioneers return to action with their first road test of the year on Saturday, March 2 at No. 24 Bentley University. The opening draw is slated for 12:00 p.m.
