BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Junior
Brianna Feldman continued to find the back of the net with regularity after being honored as the East Coast Conference (ECC) Offensive Player of the Week yesterday as she scored a game-high seven goals to help the No. 8/12 LIU Post women's lacrosse team earn a 15-7 victory over the University of Bridgeport Tuesday afternoon at Knights Field.
Along with her seven goals she also had five ground balls while junior
Paige Sherlock contributed three goals, six ground balls and three draw controls for LIU Post. Junior
Alyssa Mallery finished with three goals, a game-high nine draw controls and three ground balls. Junior
Sara Stephens and freshman
Madeline Schaefer both added one goal each while freshman goalkeeper
Hailey Duchnowski recorded 10 saves.
The Pioneers were perfect transitioning the ball from defense to offense, successfully completing 18-of-18 clear attempts.
While it was the Purple Knights who scored the opening game of the game inside the first two minutes, a goal by Mallery with 25:59 on the clock sparked a 4-0 Pioneer run. Sherlock scored with 24:31 on the clock then Feldman completed the run with back-to-back goals with 24:02 and 16:52 left to play.
Bridgeport took the lead again with 3:50 remaining in the half after a 4-0 run of their own Mallery scored with 2:36 on the clock, tying the score 5-5 heading into halftime.
The second half was dominated by LIU Post; Stephen's goal off an assist by senior
Trish Brisotti with 24:44 remaining led off a 5-0 Pioneer run. Feldman followed with two more goals at 13:50 and 12:16 then she found Sherlock for LIU Post's fifth-straight goal with 10:00 on the clock.
Bridgeport were able to add another goal but LIU Post responded with its second 5-0 run of the game. Sherlock scored with 5:26 on the clock and Feldman scored three-straight goals in under 1:30. Schaefer's goal with 3:35 on the clock boosted the Pioneers' total to 15 and the game would end with a final score of 15-7.

The Pioneer host Roberts Wesleyan College (11-4, 4-3) on Saturday, April 26 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium. A ceremony honoring LIU Post's seniors will be held prior to the start of the game.
