Julia Seader has been unstoppable at the plate this season and her play has been recognized by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) on Thursday, April 25 when the organization named her a Top-25 Finalist for the 2019 Schutt Sports/NFCA Division II National Player of the Year.
Seader currently leads the Triple Crown race in the East Coast Conference, leading the league in batting average (.467), home runs (14), and runs batted in (43). She currently ranks inside the top-50 nationally in several offensive categories, including total bases (2), hits (7), home runs (10), batting average (13), home runs per game (22), and on-base percentage (32).
Along with her national achievements, she matched the career doubles record at LIU Post with a two-bagger at Bridgeport on April 16. Seader is on pace to set a new program record in hits, needing 10 more to surpass the current mark of 294.
The Top 10 finalists for the award will be announced on May 14 with the 2018 Schutt Sports/NFCA Division II National Player of the Year revealed on May 30, following the conclusion of the 2019 season.
New in 2019 is the announcement of two awards - Schutt Sports /NFCA Player of the Year and Schutt Sports / NFCA Pitcher of the Year. Up until the reveal of the awards, there will be one list for Top-25 and one list for Top-10. The respective winners will come from the top-10 list and will be voted on by the NFCA Division II All-American Committee.
Seader has a chance to become the program's all-time leader in doubles when the Pioneers take on the New York Institute of Technology this afternoon at 2:00 p.m.
