BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The LIU Post men's lacrosse team suffered an 11-9 setback in its regular season finale, falling to No. 9 Seton Hill University on Saturday, April 27.
Sophomore
William Snelders led the Pioneers with two goals, while seven other players scored once. The Pioneers held a slight edge in shot attempts, 40-32 though it was a very even matchup across the board.
LIU Post jumped out to an early 3-0 lead behind goals by juniors
Mike Kadnar and
Dan Foley, and freshman
Jake Murphy. The Griffins responded with two goals to close out the opening quarter before the Green and Gold pushed the lead up to four goals with a three-goal burst in a two-minute span to open the second stanza. Seton Hill again responded with three unanswered goals before the Pioneers tacked on one more late in the half to take a 7-5 lead into the locker room.
Seton Hill took its first lead of the day when it scored three-straight goals to begin the second half and held LIU Post to just one goal during the third quarter. The Griffins took their final lead 1:18 into the final period and again held LIU Post to just one goal during the frame. A tally with just over five minutes left put the game out of reach for good for the Griffins who held on for the two-goal victory.
LIU Post will begin its East Coast Conference title run on Wednesday, May 1 when it hosts No. 3 seed New York Institute of Technology at 3:00 p.m. at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium. More information will be available on
