BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The No. 5/11 LIU Post women's lacrosse team used 11 different goal-scorers and a dominant defensive performance to stay perfect in East Coast Conference (ECC) play after triumphing 19-1 over Queens College Wednesday afternoon at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium.

The Pioneers dominated all facets of the game including draw controls 15-6 and ground balls 18-3 while limiting the Knights to just 4-of-12 successful clear attempts and succeeding on 9-of-11 of their own clear attempts.

Junior Alyssa Mallery and junior Paige Sherlock led the game in goals with four each while junior Angela Deren's career-best eight assists led the game in that category. Mallery also had a game-high six draw controls and she tied for the game-high in ground balls with Sherlock, junior Hannah von Hollen, junior Maddie Titus and freshman Kelly Hughes as each had two. Titus led the contest in caused turnovers with two while freshman goalkeeper Hailey Duchnowski recorded two saves.

The contest belonged to the Pioneers from the outset as junior Brianna Feldman found the back of the cage courtesy of a Deren assist with 28:23 on the clock. The Pioneers would score 11 more goals then with 3:27 left in the half senior Abbey Sollecito scored the first goal of her career to give the Pioneers a 13-1 advantage heading into halftime.

While Queens was able to score one goal in the second half, it was again all LIU Post as the Pioneers would score another six goals. Along with Sollecito, two other Pioneers would score goals for the first time in their careers; freshman Caitlin Gallagher with 7:58 remaining and Hughes after she found herself on the receiving end of an assist by sophomore Jamie Alvino with 1:44 left to play that gave LIU Post a 19-1 lead, the final score of the game.
