NFCA ALL-REGION TEAMS
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association honored four LIU Post student-athletes with All-East Region recognition this week, including three first team honorees and one second team member.
Seniors
Julia Seader and
Hannah Olshevski, along with junior
Allie Laird all landed a spot on the first team, while junior
Abbey Fortin garnered second team recognition. The four selections were the second most by any team in Division II, trailing just Winona State who posted five selections. The three first team selections are also second most in the nation.
Seader continues to add to her 2019 resume which includes East Coast Conference Player of the Year and Division II Conference Commissioners Association East Region Player of the Year. Seader, a finalist for the Schutt Sports/NFCA National Player of the Year, leads LIU Post with a .440 average which includes 20 home runs, 59 runs batted in, 15 doubles, and 159 total bases.
Olshevski also earned D2CCA first team all-region accolades for the second time in her career after compiling a 23-5 record in 30 appearances. Olshevski is having her best season of her career, notching career highs in wins while also compiling a 1.80 earned run average and a .260 opponent batting average.
Laird earns all-region recognition for the first time in her career after compiling a .363 average and .407 on-base percentage out of the leadoff spot in the lineup. Laird ranks second on the team with 69 hits, including 13 doubles, six home runs, and one triple. Her 102 total bases rank third on the team.
Fortin earns all-region accolades for the second-consecutive season after posting a .309 average with 54 hits, 13 home runs, 10 doubles, and 47 RBIs. The junior ranks second on the team with 51 runs scored and tallied a career-high seven RBIs during game one against Bridgeport on April 16.
