LIU Field Hockey Releases 2019 Schedule

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – Long Island University field hockey head coach Raenee Savin announced the Sharks 2019 schedule Tuesday morning.
 
LIU's slate is highlighted by four contests at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium and six games against teams that finished with a winning record in 2018 along with a pair of scrimmages.
 
The Sharks open with a scrimmage on Tuesday, August 20 with an exhibition against Wagner University in Staten Island, New York and follows with another scrimmage against Adelphi University on Tuesday, August 27 at a time and location to be determined. LIU's first regular season contest takes place on August 31 against Longwood University at the Hofstra Field Hockey Stadium in Hempstead, New York.
 
Virginia Commonwealth University is LIU's next opponent with the game taking place in Richmond, Virginia on Sunday, September 6 followed by a contest against  the College of William & Mary on Sunday, September 8 in Williamsburg, Virginia. The Sharks will then take on La Salle University on Sunday, September 15 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
 
The Sharks' first game at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium takes place on Sunday, September 22 against Towson University; LIU follows with three-straight road contests against Saint Francis University on Friday, September 27 in Loretto, Pennsylvania, Lock Haven University on Sunday, September 29 in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania, and Lehigh University on Sunday, October 6 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
 
LIU returns on home on Friday, October 11 when it hosts Wagner University in its first Northeast Conference (NEC) game and it follows with a contest against Rider University on Sunday, October 13. The Sharks host Merrimack  College on Friday, October 18 then Hofstra on Saturday, October 19 at the Hofstra Field Hockey Stadium.
 
LIU's final home game of the regular season takes place against Sacred Heart University on Friday, October 25 then it closes out the regular season with three-straight games on the road with the first coming against Bryant University on Sunday, October 27 in Providence, Rhode Island at Goldberger Family Field on the campus of Brown University. Finally, LIU takes on Fairfield University on Friday, November 1 in Fairfield, Connecticut and Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Sunday, November 3.
