Media Credential Request Form
An athletic event media credential request will, from this point on, refer to ANY and ALL requests made by individuals and/or organizations requesting specific access to facilities and/or materials not provided to general admission guests. Such requests include, but are not limited to: accessing playing fields, courts, press boxes, scoring tables, hospitality rooms, locker rooms, fieldhouses or weight rooms.
Credentials are typically requested for statisticians, journalists, radio/television broadcasters and videography/photography crews - though additional requirements may arise.
If you are a representative of a professional athletic organization, please contact the head coach of the appropriate sport and the Athletic Media Relations Director to obtain your credentials.
Credentials for visiting teams:
Visiting teams should list the names and responsibilities of all individuals needing media credentials. Please note, there is no need to list coaches on your media list. We include the press box and field passes for all visiting coaches, medical staff and field crew.
Media lists for visiting teams should include statisticians, broadcasters, videographers (outside those recording game footage for the coaching staff), photographers, etc. Providing this list will ensure we associate these individuals with your institution and not a third party. The request should come from an authorized member of the athletic department, such as an athletic director, sports information director or coach. Any requests received from such persons will be treated as the official request of the school and provided accordingly.
All credentials are valid for the specified event(s) only.
Space in the press boxes and at scoring tables is limited. There is ample room for most needs. However, LIU Post reserves the right to restrict access it deems excessive or unnecessary.
Any requests regarding access to athletic training facilities should be made directly to the athletic training staff.
Credentials of media personnel:
If you, or a representative of your organization, wish to receive media credentials for any home LIU Post athletic event for a full season, please fill out the online form or submit a request via e-mail (see Submitting Credentials Requests below) no later than 48 hours before the scheduled time of the event. All locally-recognized media outlets may gain reasonable access to most facilities at any time. We do request that you check in with the appropriate staff members upon your arrival in the event that special arrangements have, or need to be made to accommodate you.
Credential requests by media affiliates outside the immediate region should fill out a credential form or submit an e-mail request in advance.
Unaffiliated third parties:
Individuals who are not affiliated directly with a visiting institution or recognized media organization will not be issued credentials. We do acknowledge that there may be exceptional circumstances, so we ask that such requests be submitted at least 72 hours prior to the event. This will provide the event staff time to review the request and determine what, if any, exceptions will be made.
Photography and videography policy:
NO FOOTAGE OR PHOTOGRAPHS FROM ANY ATHLETIC EVENT MAY BE SOLD OR PUBLICLY BROADCAST WITHOUT THE EXPRESS WRITTEN CONSENT OF THE UNIVERSITY. All athletic events, logos, apparel, etc. are considered the property of the institution.
Authorized members of the media may broadcast and publish these materials as needed. If members of the media and the department have agreed upon a hold time for any story or materials, those parameters should be followed.
Fans may enter any sporting event with a camera and record video or photographs for personal use at any time. However, LIU Post, the East Coast Conference and Northeast-10 Conference may have restrictions regarding the use of flash at certain events. Any posted signs, public address announcements or requests by staff or event officials regarding the use of video or photography equipment must be adhered to at all times.
The department does not prohibit the use of large or professional equipment. However, if such equipment disrupts other spectators or prohibits others from fully enjoying the event, we ask that you, please refrain from using it or move to a more appropriate location. Again, any requests made my event personnel must be followed at all times.
LIU Post reserves the right to escort disruptive individuals from the premises.
Submitting credential requests:
The easiest way to submit your request is to fill out the online media credential form located
here. This short form will ensure that all of the appropriate information is provided and that your request is processed accordingly.
If you have a pre-existing media request list, you may forward it to Casey Schermick, Director of Athletic Media Relations, at the following address: casey.schermick@liu.edu.
The LIU Post Department of Athletics reserves the right to regulate and/or decline media access at all times.
Please note that LIU Post has no authority over credential requests for outside institutions. Any credential requests for away events should be forwarded to the hosting school. Only appropriate LIU Post staff will be added to its media lists for road contests.
We look forward to working with you and wish you, your team and personnel safe travels.
Interview Policy: Media members that wish to interview coaches, student-athletes or administrators must contact the Director of Athletic Media Relations (Casey Schermick) at least 24 hours in advance of the desired interview time. Members of the LIU Post athletic department, including student-athletes, coaches, and administrators, contacted directly by media members without having first contacted the media relations office are asked to not participate in the interview until the proper steps has been taken. All interview requests will be facilitated on a first come, first serve basis in a timely manner based on the availability of each individual coach or student-athlete.
Post-game interviews are available 20-minutes after the completion of an athletic contest as per NCAA regulations. Any credentialed media members who wish to speak with coaches or student-athletes must follow the same policies as above and a member of the media relations office will help facilitate all requests.
