Ian Schraier enters his fourth year as LIU Post's Athletic Media Relations Director in 2016-17.

Schraier returns to LIU Post after five years as the Athletic Communications Director at Molloy College. In that role, he oversaw the promotion and publicity for the school’s 16 Division II varsity programs. Over his time at Molloy, Schraier was instrumental in the launching of live statistics and broadcasts on game days. He was also primarily responsible for the re-launch of the school’s athletic website, MolloyLions.com, and helped in the release of the first-ever full athletic newsletter, Lions Land.

Prior to Molloy, Schraier served a one-year stint as the Assistant Sports Information Director at Division III Stevens Institute of Technology, where he assisted in promoting the institution’s 25 varsity programs, and maintained the Ducks’ athletic website, StevensDucks.com. Schraier served as the primary media liaison for field hockey, men’s soccer, men’s golf, women’s basketball, men’s and women’s swimming, wrestling, and women’s lacrosse – four teams (two nationally-ranked) of which went on to the NCAA Division III or ECAC Division III Championships.

Schraier earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Broadcasting from LIU Post in May of 2007. While there, he spent three years as a student assistant in the sports information office, where he received a hands-on experience, utilizing computer programs such as Stat Crew Software, Adobe Creative Suite and Quark Xpress, in addition to the responsibilities of writing game recaps, and assisting in the creation of media guides.

While at LIU Post, Schraier was active in each of the media-related clubs on campus. He was a member of the sports department for the school newspaper, The Pioneer, serving as the beat writer for women’s soccer, women’s basketball, swimming, softball and women’s lacrosse. Schraier also hosted a pair of sports talk shows on LIU Post’s radio station, WCWP, and anchored football broadcasts. Plus, he was the lead play-by-play announcer on the Long Island Spotlight Series, which showcased a premier high school basketball match-up every week.

Schraier is presently an active member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), serving as Secretary of DIISIDA. He also holds the position of coordinator for the D2CCA All-East Region Men’s Soccer Team and USILA Division II All-America Team, and has stood on the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association East Region Committee.

Schraier presently resides in Massapequa Park, N.Y. with his wife, Christine.
