LIU Post Director of Athletics & Recreation Debbie DeJong announced the appointment of Mike Zguris as head coach of the institution’s women’s golf program in August 2017.
 

Zguris has spent 37 years as a golf professional, working at both public and private courses and country clubs. He has taught a wide-range of players, spanning from amateurs to PGA Tour players. He also played an integral part in the building and construction of The Ponds, and most recently served as its Director of Golf. Zguris also has an extensive background in club fitting and club repairs, as he has been club fitter of the year five times. He is one of the leading club refinishers of woods and putters in the United States, and currently assists in repair work for over 70 golf courses on Long Island.
 
No stranger to coaching, Zguris is a Level 5 USA Ice Hockey Coach, the highest level of coaching achievable.  He has coached high school hockey for 25 years and also 9 years at the college level, garnering three coach of the year accolades at the high school level. Zguris has mentored four players that have reached the NHL during their careers.

Outside of coaching and golf repair, Zguris is also a SAG Actor/Model and has been in over 300 TV shows and 200 movies and commercials.  He was a regular on the USA Network hit show, Royal Pains, where he was a Hamptionite and golfer.
