MAHWAH, N.J. (Apr. 2, 2016) - The LIU Post men's and women's outdoor track and field teams returned to action Saturday at the Roadrunner Invitational, hosted by Ramapo College in Mahwah.
The Pioneer women came in 12th out of 30 squads at the meet, while the men tied for 17th amongst 31 programs.
Sophomore
Talya Williams (Schenectady, N.Y.) won the 5,000-meter run, clocking a near-record 18:24.85. Senior
Elizabeth Stirling (Wantagh, N.Y.) followed in second at 18:27.31.
Sophomore
Alyssa McDonald (New Rochelle, N.Y.) completed the 400-meter hurdles in a seventh-place time of 1:10.41.
For the men, red-shirt junior
Wayne Harris (Jamaica, N.Y.) ran a fifth-place 11.25 in the 100-meter dash. Red-shirt sophomore
Ramel Joseph (Jamaica, N.Y.) was 21st (11.65) in the preliminaries.
Five different runners posted Top-20 performances in the 200-dash. Junior
Stefan Adams (Jamaica, N.Y.) led the way, crossing at a seventh-place 22.96. Harris finished 10th (23.21), while red-shirt sophomore
Kyle Ward (Elizabeth, N.J.) added an 11th-place time of 23.26. Red-shirt freshman
Kasim Thomas (Bronx, N.Y.) and Joseph individually had 18th- (23.60) and 20th-place (23.61) runs.
In the 4 x 100-meter relay, the group of Thomas, Joseph, Ward and Harris sprinted to a third-place mark of 43.14.
Red-shirt junior
Mike Scott (Fultonville, N.Y.) was sixth in the 1,500-meter run, clocking a 4:11.53. He also recorded a 2:01.29 in the 800-meter run, which was good for 11th pllace.
Lastly, junior
Devin Pettaway (Amityville, N.Y.) leapt to a 12th-place time of 58.55 of the 400-meter hurdles.
LIU Post is back at it on Friday (Apr. 8), when they compete at the two-day Metropolitan Championships at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, N.J.
