Jimmy Montana completed his second season as an assistant coach with the LIU Post men's lacrosse team in 2019.
During his time at LIU Post, Montana has helped mentor two All-Americans and the Division II Faceoff Player of the Year in Connor Farrell (2019). He also helped guide Farrell to a professional career as the faceoff specialist was drafted by Major League Lacrosse's New York Lizards and Premire Lacrosse League's Chrome Lacrosse Club.
Montana arrived at LIU Post with a plethora of coaching experience on a professional level and collegiate level. His latest stint was with Commack High School, where he served as the head coach of the boy’s varsity lacrosse team. In his five years with the team, he has compiled a 45-38 record and advanced to the playoff three consecutive years.
Prior to his time at Commack, Montana worked as an assistant coach for the Long Island Lizards in 2012.
With the Pioneers, Montana returns to collegiate athletics having spent six years (2006-2012) as an assistant coach with NCAA Division I program Stony Brook University. With the help of Montana, who served as the Offensive Coordinator, the Seawolves appeared in the NCAA championship quarterfinal and was ranked four in the nation in goals-per-game (13.24). Additionally, during his tenure, the Seawolves earned a First-Team All-American selection, the USILA Player of the Year, a Tewaaraton Award Finalist, and the American East Player of the Year.
A four-year letter winner for Quinnipiac, Montana tallied 10 goals in 24 games and earned a bachelor's degree in business in 2006. Montana currently resides in Hicksville with his wife Lisa and two sons, James and Luke.
