– Despite being outshot 12-6 in the game, the C.W. Post field hockey team made it count with a goal in the seventh minute off a corner shot from senior defender Vicky DeRosa (Wading River, N.Y.) to defeat Franklin Pierce University, 1-0, Sunday afternoon.
 
C.W. Post improves to 2-0 while Franklin Pierce drops to 1-2.
 
DeRosa's goal was shot from the top of the circle on a pass from senior forward Amanda
Nann
(Hamburg, N.J.) at 7:02.
 
The Ravens attempt to tie the game in at 12:38 was thwarted when Kimberly Jaksina's (Townsend, Mass.) shot was saved by DeRosa.
 
Junior goalkeeper Devon Trenkle (New City, N.Y.) got the start in goal for the Pioneers
and made six saves in the game to preserve the shutout. 
 
The Pioneers held a 6-4 advantage in penalty corners. 
 
Franklin Pierce goalkeeper Brittany Nyzio (Attleboro, Mass.) made six saves in goal for the
Ravens.
 
C.W. Post returns to action to host its home opener against Southern Connecticut State
University on Thursday, Sept. 16 at 4 p.m. on Hickox Field.
