NEW ORLEANS, La. (Oct. 3, 2013) - The LIU Post women's cross country team recently placed sixth, while the men's program ranked seventh, in the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division II East Region Poll. The women climbed three rungs from last week's No. 9 slot.

The men stayed seventh, following a second-place run at the Harry Anderson Invitational last Saturday. Red-shirt freshman Mike Scott (Fultonville, N.Y.), red-shirt senior Matt O'Keefe (East Rockaway, N.Y.) and senior Joseph Lasher (Seaford, N.Y.) all achieved Top-10 efforts in the race. Scott paved the way, posting a 25:53.8, which landed him his third-straight East Coast Conference Rookie of the Week award.

The Top-9 in the men's poll remained unchanged, with American International spearheading the region's best squads. Molloy made its 2013 debut at No. 10.

The women, on the other hand, came in fifth at the Harry Anderson Invite. Freshman Elizabeth Stirling (Wantagh, N.Y.) led the Pioneers, recording a 15th-place showing (18:59.3), in the 5k.

Northeast-10 schools Stonehill, Merrimack and Adelphi owned the Top-3 spots in the women's ledger. Saint Anselm and Southern New Hampshire each leapt forward multiple places to round out the Top-5.

Head Coach Rob Morris and his LIU Post teams are back at it Saturday (Oct. 5) in Jersey City, N.J. at the NJIT Challenge. The meet is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
