BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (July 24, 2013) – Director of Athletics Bryan Collins announced today that LIU Post alumni Ian Schraier '07 will join the LIU Post Athletic Department as the Athletic Media Relations Director.

"We are pleased to welcome Ian back to LIU Post," said Collins.  "Ian was an excellent student worker in our Athletic Department. He went on to do great work at Molloy College. He has a great passion for LIU Post and our athletic programs. Ian has a great understanding of our university as well as the East Coast Conference which will allow him to hit the ground running. He has great initiatives that will keep LIU Post on the forefront of media exposure while also allowing us to reach our alumni through various outlets."

Schraier returns to LIU Post after five years as the Athletic Communications Director at Molloy College. In that role, he oversaw the promotion and publicity for the school's 16 Division II varsity programs. Over his time at Molloy, Schraier was instrumental in the launching of live statistics and broadcasts on game days. He was also primarily responsible for the re-launch of the school's athletic website, MolloyLions.com, and helped in the release of the first-ever full athletic newsletter, Lions Land.

"First and foremost, I would like to thank Director of Athletics Bryan Collins and the search committee for offering me this tremendous opportunity," said Schraier. "I am thrilled and honored to be back where it all started. LIU Post Athletics has endured great success in recent years, and I look forward to helping the department maintain that reputation in 2013-14 and beyond."

He added, "I also want to acknowledge Susan Cassidy-Lyke and the staff at Molloy College for making me a part of their family for the last five years. The experiences, along with the loyal and dedicated individuals that I had a pleasure of working with, will always have a special place in my heart. I would not be where I am today without their support."

Prior to Molloy, Schraier served a one-year stint as the Assistant Sports Information Director at Division III Stevens Institute of Technology, where he assisted in promoting the institution's 25 varsity programs, and maintained the Ducks' athletic website, StevensDucks.com. Schraier served as the primary media liaison for field hockey, men's soccer, men's golf, women's basketball, men's and women's swimming, wrestling, and women's lacrosse – four teams (two nationally-ranked) of which went on to the NCAA Division III or ECAC Division III Championships.

Schraier earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Broadcasting, with a minor in Public Relations, from LIU Post in May of 2007. While there, he spent three years as a student assistant in the sports information office, where he received a hands-on experience, utilizing computer programs such as Stat Crew Software, Adobe Creative Suite and Quark Xpress, in addition to the responsibilities of writing game recaps, and assisting in the creation of media guides.

While at LIU Post, Schraier was active in each of the media-related clubs on campus. He was a member of the sports department for the school newspaper, The Pioneer, serving as the beat writer for women's soccer, women's basketball, swimming, softball and women's lacrosse. Schraier also hosted a pair of sports talk shows on LIU Post's radio station, WCWP, and anchored football broadcasts. Plus, he was the lead play-by-play announcer on the Long Island Spotlight Series, which showcased a premier high school basketball match-up every week.

Schraier is presently an active member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), serving as a Co-Chairman on the program committee, and Secretary of DIISIDA. He also holds the position of coordinator for the Daktronics Division II All-East Region Men's Soccer Team, and stands on the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association East Region Committee.

Schraier presently resides in Howard Beach, N.Y., and is engaged to his fiancee', Christine.
