Cross Country Squads Place Second at 2013 St. John's-Hofstra Fall Festival

OAKDALE, N.Y. (Sept. 7, 2013) - The LIU Post men's and women's cross country teams participated Saturday in the 2013 St. John's-Hofstra Fall Festival in Oakdale, N.Y. Both programs placed second in their respective races.
In the 5,000-meter race, LIU Post finished only behind Adelphi. Red-shirt freshman
Mike Scott (Fultonville, N.Y.) led the way with a fifth-place time of 15:44:30. Senior
Joseph Lasher (Seaford, N.Y.) wasn't far behind, crossing the line in eighth place (15:50:00). Senior
Thomas Speicher (Levittown, N.Y.) was 23rd (16:14:00), while red-shirt senior
Matt O'Keefe (East Rockaway, N.Y.) and freshman
Tyler McGarvey rounded out the Top-5 on the men's side. The duo posted 30th- and 38th-place showings, respectively.
For the women, the Pioneers came in second in the 400-meter race, again behind Adelphi. Sophomore
Elizabeth Stirling (Wantagh, N.Y.) finished highest among the LIU Post runners in 11th place (15:59:36). Senior
Jenn McLaughlin (Seaford, N.Y.) followed with a 20th-place clocking of 16:22:22. Juniors
Alexa Montegari (Wanaque, N.J.) and
Shaylyn Stehl (Wantagh, N.Y.), along with senior
Angelica Price (Tampa, Fla.), wrapped up the green and gold's scoring for the day. Montegari ended up 28th. Stehl recorded a 38th-place showing. Price came across in 55th place.

Rob Morris and his LIU Post squads are back in action next Saturday (Sept. 14), when they host their annual invitational in Brookville, N.Y.
