Women's Tennis Falls in ECC Semifinals to NYIT, 4-0

FLUSHING, N.Y. (Oct. 24, 2014) - On Friday, the fourth-seeded LIU Post women's tennis team dropped a 4-0 decision to top-seeded NYIT in the semifinals of the East Coast Conference Championship at the Queens Tennis Courts in Flushing.

With the loss, the Pioneers round out their season with a 7-5 overall record, including a 5-3 mark against league opposition. 

NYIT took a 2-0 lead after securing two doubles flights. The Pioneers' No. 1 pair, Didi Fatchikova (Sofia, Bulgaria) and Lucie Chrastecka (Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic), lost their match, 8-1, while Heena Kewalramani (Bangkok, Thailand) and Laura Harwell (Alabaster, Ala.) were edged 8-3 at second doubles.

In singles, Kewalramani managed to win two games against the Bears' Sara Burinato, but the match was left unfinished at 6-2, 4-0.
