LIU Post Tabbed Second in First Learfield Cup Standings of 2014-15

Full Standings

CLEVELAND, Ohio (Dec. 11, 2014)
 - After having one of the most successful fall seasons in school history, LIU Post was slotted second in the first 2014-15 NACDA Division II Learfield Sports Directors' Cup standings, released Thursday.

It is the Pioneers' highest ranking since placing sixth in the last poll of the fall season on Dec. 24, 2013. The green and gold also finished well above their East Coast Conference foes (Roberts Wesleyan and Bridgeport were next closest in at 25th and 26th, respectively), marking that feat for the fifth-consecutive year.

Points are awarded based on each team's success. The Pioneers have totaled 294 points thus far. LIU Post earned points for field hockey's appearance in the NCAA title game, as well as men's soccer's "Elite 8" appearance, women's soccer's second round appearance, and women's cross country's finish at the National Championships.

The Pioneers sit atop the entire East Region as well. Northeast-10 Conference rival Stonehill ran second to LIU Post, sporting a 187-point total.

Grand Valley State currently leads the pack with a 373-point tally. The Lakers captured national titles in women's cross country and women's soccer, while placing as the runner-up in men's cross country. They were also third in women's volleyball.

The tally does not include football, since teams are still competing for the National Championship.
