DANBURY, Conn. (Dec. 19, 2014) - LIU Post junior forward
Keliann Margiotta (Sewell, N.J.) and graduate defender
Dani Crouse (Westville, South Africa) have been individually lauded as the 2014 ECAC Division II Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year, announced Thursday afternoon.
Margiotta, an NFHCA and Synapse Sports First-Team All-American in 2014, was also dubbed the Northeast-10 Conference and Synapse Sports Offensive Player of the Year, following a highlight reel year. She was the country's leading goal- and point-getter, amassing totals of 33 and 82, respectively. Additionally, the Sewell native averaged the second-most assists (0.73) in the nation, while finding the back of the cage for a team-leading eight game-winners.
Over her first three seasons in a Pioneer uniform, Margiotta has consistently improved her offensive numbers. She currently boasts career totals of 72 goals and 178 points, both of which place her just outside the Top-10 all-time in Division II.
Crouse, like Margiotta, racked up quite the number of honors this season, as well. In addition to being named the NE-10 Defensive Player of the Year, she was recognized as an NFHCA and Synapse Sports All-America first-team selection.
The anchor of LIU Post's defensive unit, Crouse, who tacked on 26 points (9 G, 8 A) to her offensive resume, aided in holding the opposition to a league-leading clip of 1.09 goals against per game (fifth in Division II).
Lastly, senior forward
Lyn-Marie Wilson (Bridgetown, Barbados) earned ECAC All-Star second-team distinction. She placed in the Top-10 in the conference in all three offensive categories in 2014, ranking third in assists (12), sixth in points (38) and seventh in goals (13). Wilson joined Margiotta and Crouse as an NFHCA First-Team All-American for her efforts.
