Day One in the Books at ECAC Championships for Swimming

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (Feb. 28, 2014) - On Day One of the ECAC Championships, held at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., the LIU Post swimming team secured a sixth- and seventh-place finish to total 50 points.
Seniors
Angelica Norrena (Solna, Sweden) and
Chelcee Hew (Savage, Minn.), junior
Maxi Russo (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) and sophomore
Kat Kazaba (Point Pleasant Beach, N.J.) teamed up for the 200-yard freestyle relay. The four combined for a time of 1:40.15 in the preliminaries, which would seed them sixth for the finals. Staying true to seeding, the group posted a sixth-place effort (1:40.31).
In the 400-yard medley relay, Kazaba, Hew, sophomore
Kirsty Elliott (Edinburg, Scotland), and Norrena produced a time of 4:06.56 in the preliminaries for a seventh seed. Once again, the green and gold stuck with its seeded slot and finished seventh, clocking a 4:06.55.
The ECAC Championships continue tomorrow (Mar. 1) with the following events: 200-yard medley relay, 400-yard individual medley, 100-yard butterfly, 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard breaststroke, 100-yard backstroke, and 800-yard freestyle relay.
