Women's Tennis Drops Close Contest at UDC, 4-2

ARLINGTON, Va. (Sept. 13, 2014) - On Saturday, the LIU Post women's tennis team was handed its first defeat of 2014, falling to UDC by a score of 4-2 at the YMCA Arlington Tennis Center.
The Pioneers (2-1, 1-1 ECC) got on the board in the opening match of the afternoon. Juniors
Didi Fatchikova (Sofia, Bulgaria) and
Lucie Chrastecka (Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic) cruised to an 8-1 win in top-flight doubles.
Fatchikova also earned a straight-set victory (6-3, 6-1) at No. 1 singles against Maxime Dujist (Vallenskwaard, Netherlands). Sophomores
Heena Kewalramani (Bangkok, Thailand) and
Laura Harwell (Alabaster, Ala.) fought valiantly as well, but eventually lost their singles matches in three sets to Laura Diamante (Riga, Latvia) and Laura Rojas (Bogota, Colombia), respectively.
Head Coach
Darrel Bielawski and the green and gold will take the court again on Friday (Sept. 19), when they host Dowling at the LIU Post Tennis Courts in Brookville, N.Y. First serve is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
