Women's Tennis Defeats Dowling, 7-0

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Sept. 19, 2014) - On Friday, the LIU Post women's tennis team blanked East Coast Conference rival Dowling, 7-0, at the LIU Post Tennis Courts.

Freshman Meagan Byrne (Deer Park, N.Y.) picked up her first collegiate victory, beating Dowling's Lauren Young at No. 6 singles, 6-2, 6-0. Meanwhile, junior Didi Fatchikova (Sofia, Bulgaria) remains undefeated. She shut out Amanda Van Nostrom, 6-0, 6-0, in top singles, and paired with fellow junior Lucie Chrastecka (Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic) to take the doubles flight, 8-0. 

Other than Byrne's win, the Pioneers secured all of their other singles matches, 6-0, 6-0, along with winning both doubles flights, 8-0. 

With the win, the Pioneers improved to 3-1 on the year, and are now listed third in the East Coast Conference standings. 

Head Coach Darrel Bielawski and his LIU Post squad are back in action Saturday (Sept. 20), when they host ECC foe St. Thomas Aquinas at 10 a.m. in Brookville.
