BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 14, 2015) - The LIU Post women's tennis team cruised to a 9-0 victory against Caldwell University in non-conference action Wednesday at the LIU Post Tennis Courts.

Prior to the match, the Pioneers (4-5) recognized its three graduating seniors: Didi Fatchikova (Sofia, Bulgaria)Lucie Chrastecka (Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic) and Nicole Andre (Manalapan, N.J.).

LIU Post won all three of its doubles matches by decisive 8-2 counts. Fatchikova and Chrastecka beat Tamara Klimek (Novi Sad, Serbia) and Emily Slater (Cliffwood Beach, N.J.) at the No. 1 flight. Freshman Shanice Arthur (Brookville, N.Y.) and junior Heena Kewalramani (Bangkok, Thailand) downed Rebecca Ryan (Berkeley Heights, N.J.) and Sara Riccardi (Jersey City, N.J.) in second doubles. Junior Laura Harwell (Alabaster, Ala.) and sophomore Meagan Byrne (Deer Park, N.Y.) rolled past Koumudi Thirunagaru (San Ramon, Calif.) and Claudia Romano (Salerno, Italy) at the No. 3 position.

In top singles, Arthur split the first two sets (6-2, 1-6) with Klimek, before winning 10-6 in the third. Chrastecka shut out Ryan, 6-0, 6-0, at the No. 2 flight. Kewalramani dropped the first set at the third-singles position, but rallied to win the match against Slater, 6-7 (4-7), 6-3, 12-10.

Despite also losing the first set (2-6), Harwell came back to defeat Riccardi, 6-1, 10-5, at No. 4 singles. Byrne (6-2, 6-0) and Andre (6-1, 6-3) were straight-set victors, knocking off Thirunagaru and sophomore Debra Pellegrino (Valley Stream, N.Y.) at fifth and sixth singles, respectively.

Head Coach Walter Giacometti and his LIU Post squad return to action Friday (Oct. 16), when they travel to Rochester to face Roberts Wesleyan College in an East Coast Conference tilt at 3 p.m.
