Box Score vs. Molloy - Oct. 2, 2015

PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y. (Oct. 2, 2015)
- The LIU Post women's tennis team rolled to an 8-1 victory over East Coast Conference foe Molloy College Friday afternoon at the Port Washington Tennis Academy.

The Pioneers (3-3, 2-2 ECC) swept the doubles portion of the contest, winning each match by an 8-1 scoreline.

Seniors Didi Fatchikova (Sofia, Bulgaria) and Lucie Chrastecka (Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic) earned their team-high fifth victory at the first-doubles flight. Freshman Shanice Arthur (Brookville, N.Y.) and junior Heena Kewalramani (Bangkok, Thailand) improved to a record of 4-2 in second doubles. Junior Laura Harwell (Alabaster, Ala.) and sophomore Meagan Byrne (Deer Park, N.Y.) teamed up for their first win at the No. 3 position.

In singles play, Arthur and Kewalramani surrendered only two games apiece at the No. 1 and No. 2 flights, respectively. Arthur defeated Tatiana Rajaona (Paris, France) in straight sets (6-2, 6-0), while Kewalramani won by identical 6-1 scores against Megan Scali (Garrison, N.Y.). Harwell was also a straight-set victor, as she upended Emily Rosen (Little Neck, N.Y.), 6-3, 6-1, at third singles.

Byrne shut out (6-0) Christie Catterson (Amityville, N.Y.) at No. 4 singles, while senior Nicole Andre (Manalapan, N.J.) yielded one game in a 6-1, 6-0 triumph versus Krystal Bottone (Wantagh, N.Y.) in the fifth-singles position.

Head Coach Walter Giacometti and his LIU Post squad have a quick turnaround, as they wrap up a four-match homestand Saturday (Oct. 3) against ECC rival Queens College at the Hempstead Lake Indoor Tennis Center in West Hempstead. First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m.
