Women's Tennis Slotted Fourth in ECC Preseason Poll

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Aug. 24, 2015)
- After a successful 2014 campaign, the LIU Post women's tennis team was selected to finish fourth in the 2015 East Coast Conference Preseason Poll, released Monday. 

The Pioneers earned 42 points in the tally, nearly surpassing UDC (43 points) for the No. 3 slot. Defending league champion NYIT was the unanimous favorite, claiming all eight first-place votes and 64 points.

In 2014, the green and gold finished 7-6 overall and earned their second-straight appearance in the ECC Tournament. Reigning All-ECC first-team selection Didi Fatchikova (Sofia, Bulgaria) posted a stellar 9-2 mark at first singles in her first year in a Pioneer uniform, while Lucie Chrastecka (Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic) sported an unblemished 8-0 record in second singles. Fatchikova and Chrastecka also combined to go 8-2 in doubles action last season.

LIU Post opens the 2015 campaign on Thursday, Sept. 3, when it travels to nearby Garden City for a 3 p.m. first serve at Adelphi.
