BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Sept. 26, 2015) - The LIU Post women's tennis team bounced back Saturday with a 7-2 triumph against Holy Family University in a non-conference match at the LIU Post Tennis Courts.
The Pioneers (2-3) swept all three doubles flights to jump out to a 3-0 lead. Seniors
Didi Fatchikova (Sofia, Bulgaria) and
Lucie Chrastecka (Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic) defeated Holy Family's (3-4) Anastasiya Kolodiy (Lviv, Ukraine) and Emerald Adams (White Plains, Md.), 8-4, at the No. 1 position.
In second doubles, junior
Heena Kewalramani (Bangkok, Thailand) and freshman
Shanice Arthur (Brookville, N.Y.) rolled to an 8-1 victory against Alina Nersesyan (Yaroslavi, Russia) and Christina Little (Philadelphia, Pa.). Junior
Laura Harwell (Alabaster, Ala.) and sophomore
Meagan Byrne (Deer Park, N.Y.) were also winners by an 8-1 score, at No. 3 doubles.
In her first appearance at No. 1 singles, Arthur upended Kolodiy in straight sets (6-1, 6-2). Fatchikova blanked Adams, 6-0, 6-0, at the second-singles flight. Kewalramani, despite losing the first set, rallied to win the next two (6-1, 10-5) to top Nersesyan in third singles.
