Shanice Arthur (Brookville, N.Y.) earned her first two collegiate victories Saturday, but the LIU Post women's tennis team came up on the short end of a 5-4 loss to University of the District of Columbia in its 2015 home and East Coast Conference opener.

Didi Fatchikova (Sofia, Bulgaria) and
Lucie Chrastecka (Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic) dispatched Dominika Hadnadova (Sala, Slovakia) and Alena Skobkina (Tarragona, Spain), 8-4, in first doubles.
In singles play, Arthur blanked her opponent at the third position, defeating Looareesuwan in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0. Fatchikova was also a straight-set winner, capturing a 6-3, 6-2 victory against Hadnadova in the first-singles flight. Chrastecka and junior
Laura Harwell (Alabaster, Ala.) each took the first set from their opponents, but dropped the next two at second and fifth singles, respectively.

Walter Giacometti and his LIU Post squad are back on the court next Saturday (Sept. 12), when they travel to Sparkill for a noon first serve at St. Thomas Aquinas College.
