CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Oct. 11, 2016) - For the fifth time this year, LIU Post women's cross country junior Talya Williams (Schenectady, N.Y.) haa been named the East Coast Conference Runner of the Week, it was announced Tuesday.

Williams ran to an impressive second-place finish at the Metropolitan Championships last Friday (Oct. 7), clocking an 18:34.8 in the 5k. That mark bested her own Van Cortlandt Park record of 18:53 from the Fordham Fiasco on Sept. 10.

In 2016, Williams has cracked the program's Top-10 all-time leaderboard for a 5k in each meet she has competed in. As a result, the Pioneers have won two races and placed third in two others.

Williams and her LIU Post side return to action Saturday (Oct. 15), when they compete at the University at Albany Invitational in Albany.
