CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Oct. 18, 2016) - On Monday, LIU Post women's tennis sophomore
Lara Scholtze (Bad Homburg, Germany) received the nod as the East Coast Conference Player of the Week.
Scholtze won both of her matches last week at No. 1 singles to improve to 8-1 overall. She also teamed up with freshman
Charlotte Hynes (Weston, Fla.) for a pair of victories at second doubles.
Scholtze led off the week Friday (Oct. 14) with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep of Roberts Wesleyan's Marousia Bosch in a 5-4 victory. Then, on Saturday (Oct. 15), she earned a 6-3, 6-1 triumph against Karli Hollins to beat Daemen, 7-2.
In doubles, Scholtze and Hynes lost a combined three games in the two matches. The pair posted an 8-1 win versus Roberts' Tiffany Hamdan and Salome Darsalia and an 8-2 victory against Daemen's Gretchen Ringler and Jessica Robins.
Scholtze and the Pioneers return to action today, when they travel to Flushing for a 2:30 p.m. opening serve at ECC rival Queens College.
