CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Oct. 31, 2016) - For the third-consecutive week, LIU Post women's soccer sophomore goalkeeper
Hillevi Eklow (Väröbacka, Sweden) has been named the East Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Eklow posted a pair of shutouts last week to increase her season total to a league-leading nine clean sheets, five of which have come in her last six starts.
Eklow led off the final week of the regular season with a game-high five-save performance in a 2-0 win at Pace last Wednesday (Oct. 26). Three days later, she stopped two shots in a 3-0 victory at NYIT.
In addition to her nine shutouts, Eklow boasts a 13-2-2 record with an ECC-best 0.47 goals-against average and .871 save percentage. Additionally, her eight goals allowed are the second-fewest of any goalie in the conference.
Eklow and the Pioneers have clinched the No. 2 seed in the East Coast Conference Championship. They will face third-seeded Mercy College in a semifinal tilt on Wednesday (Nov. 2) at 1 p.m. at Pioneer Soccer Park in Brookville.
