INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Nov. 7, 2016) - The National Collegiate Athletic Association released the six-team field for the 2016 NCAA Division II Field Hockey Championship on Monday, and LIU Post garnered the No. 1 seed in the East Region.

It is only the second time in program history that the Pioneers have claimed the top seed in the NCAA Tournament.

LIU Post, which receives a first-round bye, will face either second-seeded Saint Anselm College or third-seeded Stonehill College in a national semifinal match-up on Friday, Nov. 18 at Stonehill's W.B. Mason Stadium in Easton, Mass.

The green and gold are a combined 4-0 this season against their potential opponents. Most recently, the Pioneers blanked Stonehill, 3-0, in a Northeast-10 Conference Championship semifinal, before defeating Saint Anselm in overtime, 2-1, in the title game.

LIU Post is earning its third bid to the NCAA Division II Tournament in the last four years. The Pioneers' last two appearances culminated in a trip to the national championship game.
