CHANDLER, Ariz. (Nov. 8, 2016) - The LIU Post field hockey team has climbed to No. 4 in the final Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division II Poll of the 2016 season, released Tuesday.
Last week, the Pioneers won the Northeast-10 Conference title with a thrilling 2-1 overtime victory at Saint Anselm. Sophomore forward/midfielder
Emily Miller (Bridgewater, N.J.), who was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player, scored the game-winning goal just 2:08 into the extra period.
Shippensburg earned the No. 1 ranking in the poll, tallying 176 points and 13 first-place votes. Millersville followed at No. 2 with 172 points and seven first-place nods. East Stroudsburg (165 points, six first-place votes) fell two spots to No. 3.
LIU Post opens NCAA Tournament play on Friday, Nov. 18, following a first-round bye. The Pioneers will face either second-seeded Saint Anselm College or third-seeded Stonehill College in the national semifinals at Stonehill's W.B. Mason Stadium in Easton, Mass.
