Pioneers Move Up to Third in Final Fall Learfield Cup Standings

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Dec. 22, 2016) - The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics released its final fall standings for the 2016-17 Learfield Sports Directors' Cup on Thursday, and LIU Post climbed one spot to No. 3 in the rankings.

The Pioneers collected 53 points to increase their fall total to 257 points, after the football team's trip to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

On the gridiron, the green and gold had one of their best campaigns in program history. The Pioneers set a team record for wins (12) and completed their first unbeaten regular season since 2002, while winning their second Northeast-10 Conference title in the last three seasons.

As the fall concludes, LIU Post trails Grand Valley State (350 points) by only 93 points for the lead. Colorado School of Mines was second in the standings with 324 points.

Additionally, the Pioneers paced all East Region teams by a healthy margin. American International (175 points) followed in 12th, while Adelphi (162 points) ranked 16th.
