KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Dec. 6, 2016) - On Tuesday, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America released its final Division II women's soccer rankings for the 2016 campaign, and LIU Post was listed at No. 18.
This year, the Pioneers boasted an overall record of 15-4-2 and an East Coast Conference ledger of 6-1-1. The green and gold also reached the ECC title game for the first time since 2010, and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division II Tournament.
It marked the sixth time over the last nine years that LIU Post earned a bid to the NCAA Tournament, under the direction of Head Coach
Mark Dawson.
The Pioneers were stellar on defense in 2016, allowing the fewest goals (12) of any team in the ECC. Additionally, the green and gold posted a league-best 11 shutouts and limited the opposition to a minuscule 0.56 goals-against average.
Senior back
Kristin Brandman (East Northport, N.Y.) earned various accolades for her play on a stingy defensive unit. She was recognized to the All-ECC, D2CCA All-East Region and ECAC All-Star First Team.
