Emily Delaney (Long Valley, N.J.) and freshman midfielder
Ryan McKinney (Downingtown, Pa.) have respectively been selected as the East Coast Conference Player and Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday.
Delaney led the way offensively for the Pioneers last week, amassing a team-leading 16 points (7 G, 9 A) in a pair of wins. She tallied five points (3 G, 2 A) in a 16-6 win versus Molloy College on Wednesday (Mar. 23), and followed that up with a career-best 11-point outing Saturday (Mar. 26) in an 18-6 victory against Holy Family University.
Delaney currently leads the ECC in scoring with 54 points (20 G, 34 A). Her 34 assists are also tops in the league and places third-best amongst the nation's statistical leaders.
Furthermore, Delaney ranks third in Division II in points per game (6.14), fourth in assists per game (3.86) and sixth in total points.
Meanwhile, McKinney scored four goals and added an assist for a five-point week. She collected three of those tallies and scooped up two ground balls on Saturday at Holy Family.
Through eight games, McKinney has 19 goals and seven assists for 26 points, the third-highest total on the team. Her 19 goals have come on 29 shots on net, translating to a 65.5 success rate.
Delaney, McKinney and her LIU Post squad return to action Saturday (Apr. 2), when they host No. 1 Adelphi University at 1 p.m. at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium in Brookville.
