BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (May 2, 2016) - The LIU Post women's lacrosse team will head into postseason play at No. 5 and 8 in the respective Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association and Nike/Lacrosse Magazine Division II polls, released Monday.
The Pioneers concluded the regular season at 14-3 overall and 7-1 in East Coast Conference play, after decisive wins over then-No. 20 Stonehill College (11-4) and Mercy College (16-2) last week.
Junior attacker
Connor Bird (Syosset, N.Y.) led the way offensively, tallying 11 points (6 G, 5 A) in the two victories. Freshman midfielder
Ryan McKinney (Downingtown, Pa.) scored three goals in both contests for a six-point week.
Between the pipes, sophomore cageminder
Olivia Kirk (Farmingdale, N.Y.) made five saves, while boasting a 3.55 goals-against average. Her 4.37 GAA and .584 save percentage on the season currently lead all Division II goalies.
LIU Post returns to action Thursday (May 5), when it takes on third-seeded Mercy College in an ECC Championship semifinal at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium in Brookville. The opening draw is set for 4 p.m.
