Vistnes, Stirling, Fatchikova Earn ECC Scholar-Athlete Distinction

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (May 26, 2016) - The East Coast Conference revealed its 2015-16 Scholar-Athletes of the Year on Wednesday, and LIU Post boasted three individual selections.

Seniors Susanne Vistnes (Randaberg, Norway)Elizabeth Stirling (Wantagh, N.Y.) and Didi Fatchikova (Sofia, Bulgaria) were honored as the ECC Scholar-Athletes of the Year in women's soccer, women's outdoor track and field and women's tennis, respectively.

On the pitch, Vistnes, who boasted a 3.56 cumulative grade-point average in Business, concluded her four-year career at LIU Post with a flourish. She tallied 19 goals and added eight assists for 46 points, and shattered the program's career records for goals and points in the process. Vistnes was named to the All-ECC First Team, in addition to securing spots on the NSCAA and D2CCA All-America Second Team.

Stirling won the 5,000-meter run at the ECC Championships in a meet-record time of 18:11.02 to secure All-ECC first-team recognition. She also earned a place on the All-ECC Second Team, after helping the Pioneers to a second-place finish (10:07.50) in the 4 x 800-meter relay. In the classroom, Stirling carried a 3.6 undergraduate grade-point average and an unblemished 4.0 GPA in her graduate work in Biology.

Fatchikova, a 3.93 GPA student in Public Relations, compiled a 7-3 singles record and an impressive 10-2 pairs mark in 2015-16. She ranked second in the ECC in No. 1 doubles winning percentage (.909) and collected the fourth-most wins (4) in the league at No. 2 singles.
