BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Sept. 10, 2016) - On Saturday, the LIU Post women's tennis team rolled to a 7-2 win over East Coast Conference foe St. Thomas Aquinas College in its 2016 season opener in Brookville.
Sophomores
Stanislava Klymova (Dnipro, Ukraine) and
Shanice Arthur (Brookville, N.Y.) made quick work of Bianca Signore (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Sara O'Brien (Orangeburg, N.Y.) at first doubles in an 8-3 win.
In second doubles, fellow sophomore
Lara Scholtze (Bad Homburg, Germany) and freshman
Charlotte Hynes (Weston, Fla.) earned a hard-fought 9-7 victory against Nyenyeri Kanefu (Rutherford, N.J.) and Katarina Lopez (New City, N.Y.).
Arthur led off singles play with a 6-3, 6-3 straight-set win versus Signore at the No. 1 flight. Scholtze was a 6-4, 6-0 victor over Kanefu in the second position. Klymova defeated Lopez, 6-4, 6-3, at third singles to secure the victory for the Pioneers (1-0, 1-0 ECC).
Hynes yielded just four games in a 6-1, 6-3 triumph against O'Brien at No. 4 singles. Senior
Laura Harwell (Alabaster, Ala.) beat Raven DeLeon (Brooklyn, N.Y.) in straight sets (6-4, 6-2) in the fifth flight.

Walter Giacometti and his LIU Post squad return to the court on Friday (Sept. 16), when they host Post University for a 3 p.m. opening serve at the LIU Post Tennis Courts.
