BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Sept. 16, 2016) - The LIU Post women's tennis team wrapped up its season-opening three-match homestand Friday with a 7-2 victory against Post University in non-conference action in Brookville.
The Pioneers (2-0) got out to another strong start, taking two of three doubles matches. Sophomores
Stanislava Klymova (Dnipro, Ukraine) and
Shanice Arthur (Brookville, N.Y.) edged Liza Dubrovskaya (Rostov-on-Don, Russia) and Brianna Miah (Wesley Chapel, Fla.) at the No. 1 flight, 8-5.
Sophomore
Lara Scholtze (Bad Homburg, Germany) and freshman
Charlotte Hynes (Weston, Fla.) teamed up for an 8-3 win over Madison Young (Wellington, New Zealand) and Sarah Namazi (Waterbury, Conn.) in the second-doubles position.
In singles play, Scholtze made her first appearance in the No. 1 spot, defeating Dubrovskaya in straight sets, 6-1, 7-5. Arthur was a straight-set victor (6-4, 6-0) against Young in second singles.
Despite dropping a hard-fought second set, Klymova answered back in the third to beat Miah, 6-3, 6-7, 10-5, at No. 3 singles. Senior
Laura Harwell (Alabaster, Ala.) also went the distance, earning a 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 victory in the No. 5 flight. Senior
Heena Kewalramani (Bangkok, Thailand) upended Namazi in sixth singles, 6-1, 6-3.

Walter Giacometti and his LIU Post squad return to action Saturday (Sept. 17), when they face New York Institute of Technology in an East Coast Conference showdown in Old Westbury. First serve is set for 11 a.m.
