LIU Post Women's Volleyball put forth a dominant effort at Pratt Recreation Center on Thursday night, downing the University of Bridgeport in straight sets to wins its 10th-consecutive contest and improve to 19-3 on the season with a 6-1 record in East Coast Conference play.
 
The Pioneers hit .296 as a team against Bridgeport (8-10, 4-3 ECC), led by junior Rachel Londot with 14 kills on .412 hitting.  Senior Danielle Valenza recorded a double-double in the three-set sweep, tallying 10 kills and 12 digs to go along with three aces.  Kristen Bendy proved incredible efficient on the offensive side, turning six of her nine attacks into points for the Pioneers. 
 
Senior libero Indira Rojas led the defensive effort with 14 digs, while Kassie Akouri-Tejedor led the squad with five aces and 25 assists.
 
The Pioneers cruised to a first set victory, taking seven of the match's opening nine points.  After Bridgeport narrowed the deficit to three, 9-6, a few points later, the Pioneers went on a 6-1 run to move ahead 15-7.  LIU Post maintained a healthy margin the rest of the way, taking the first set, 25-15.
 
After LIU Post opened a commanding eight-point lead, 16-8, toward the middle of the second set, the Purple Knights battled to narrow the deficit to just one, 23-22.  Following a timeout from Amanda Ostapow, the Pioneers quickly took the next two points and opened up a 2-0 lead in the match.
 
The Pioneers faced a tough Purple Knights effort once again in the third and final set, as a three-point run from Bridgeport to narrow its deficit to just two, 18-16, forced another LIU Post timeout.  After the stoppage it was all Pioneers, as LIU Post maintained its lead the rest of the way and took the third and final set, 25-21.
 
LIU Post returns to action inside Pratt Recreation Center on Sunday, hosting Le Moyne at 12 p.m.
