Brookville, NY. | Sophomore Taylah Hudson netted a team-high 11 points, but the LIU Post women's basketball team couldn't keep pace with a No. 8 Bentley University squad that shot 45 percent and handed the Pioneers a 77-51 defeat at home on Sunday afternoon.

The Basics

·       Final Score: Bentley 77, LIU Post 51

·       Records: Bentley 11-1, LIU Post 8-4

·       Location: Brookville, NY

·       Arena: Pratt Recreation Center

·       LIU Starters: Olsen (G), Patterson (F), Francis (G), Hudson (G), Doyle (G)

Turning Point

 ·       Bentley scored the first two baskets of the contest before LIU Post ran off seven straight points to take a 7-4 lead. Bentley responded back with a 14-3 run and would never relinquish the lead after that.

How it Happened

·       Down 4-0 in the first minute of action, a Sasha Patterson layup spearheaded a 7-0 run for the Pioneers, but the Falcons responded with four of the next six points in the period. The visitors connected on 44 percent and led by seven, 18-11, at the first break.

·       A swarming Falcon defense throughout the contest limited any clean looks for the Pioneers and they increased their lead until the final buzzer.

·       Led by Tayla Hudson's five points in the third quarter followed by four from Sasha Patterson, Robyn Francis, and Shannon Doyle, the Pioneers found some momentum in the third quarter scoring 22 points. However, the Pioneer's 41 percent shooting couldn't keep pace with Bentley's  46 percent shooting.

For the Pioneers

·       Hudson paced the Pioneers with 11 points, three rebounds, and an assist.

·       Senior Kristen Olsen added with nine points, a block, and a steal.

·       Sasha Patterson tallied eight points on the afternoon.

Inside the Box Score

·       The visitors did most of their damage in the paint scoring 42 points compared to LIU Post's 16. The Falcons also handed out 15 assists on 27 made field goals.
