AUSTIN, Texas (Mar. 9, 2017) - The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association recently announced its latest national rankings, and LIU Post cracked the Top-25 at No. 20 in the Division II poll.
The Pioneers are off to a 7-4 start to the 2017 campaign, defeating two nationally-ranked programs along the way.
In those two upsets, LIU Post came from behind to get the victory. First, the green and gold rallied from a three-run deficit to knock off then-No. 6 Southern New Hampshire, 4-3, on Feb. 23.
Then, on Feb. 26, the Pioneers fought back from an early 2-0 to stun then-No. 12 Franklin Pierce, 6-2.
The green and gold earned 80 points in the voting. They were also one of just two teams from the East Region (Southern New Hampshire - No. 11) to be ranked in the poll.
Head Coach
Mike Gaffney and his LIU Post squad are back in action on Wednesday (Mar. 15), when they face East Stroudsburg University at 3 p.m. in East Stroudsburg, Pa.
