BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Apr. 12, 2017) - The No. 6/5 LIU Post women's lacrosse team won its eighth-straight game Wednesday, defeating Queens College, 20-0, in an East Coast Conference showdown at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium.
It is the second time in as many years that the Pioneers (9-1, 5-0 ECC) have shut out an opponent in the regular season (Mar. 1, 2016 vs. Nyack).
The green and gold raced out to an overwhelming 13-0 halftime lead in the contest and never looked back.
Sophomore midfielder
Ryan McKinney (Downingtown, Pa.) recorded a team-leading four goals in the first 30 minutes. Red-shirt senior attacker
Alexis Newman (Medford Lakes, N.J.) scored three goals, while senior attacker
Connor Bird (Syosset, N.Y.) had a pair of tallies. Freshman attacker
Angela Deren (Greenlawn, N.Y.) added a goal and dished out four assists in the half.
Deren finished with a game- and season-high seven points (2 G, 5 A) in the win. McKinney and Bird each registered six points (4 G, 2 A). Newman tallied four goals on four shots. Sophomore midfielder
Trish Brisotti (Mattituck, N.Y.) netted two goals. Freshman midfielder
Alyssa Mallery (Wantagh, N.Y.) pitched in a goal and an assist and won five draws.
For the game, the Pioneers owned a commanding 29-2 advantage in shots and an 18-6 edge in ground balls and draw controls. The green and gold were also 8-of-9 (88.9 percent) on clears and 2-of-2 (100.0 percent) on free-position shots.

Meghan McNamara and her LIU Post squad return to action Saturday (Apr. 15), when they square off with top-ranked Adelphi University at Motamed Field in Garden City. The opening draw is scheduled for 1 p.m.
