BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Apr. 26, 2017) - The No. 5/6 LIU Post women's lacrosse team pulled away for a 15-3 victory against East Coast Conference foe St. Thomas Aquinas College on Wednesday at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium.

Tied 1-1 in the first half, the Pioneers (12-2, 7-0 ECC) reeled off five unanswered goals in a near 10-minute stretch to grab a 6-1 lead with 11:46 remaining.

Senior attacker Brianna LeCompte (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) and freshman midfielder Alyssa Mallery (Wantagh, N.Y.) each scored two goals for LIU Post in the run.

The Pioneers, who led 6-2 at the half, continued to pour it on in the second half. The hosts struck for nine goals on just 12 shots in the latter 30 minutes of play to seal their third-consecutive win.

Sophomore midfielder Ryan McKinney (Downingtown, Pa.) notched a pair of tallies in the burst. Senior defender Cara Douglas (West Islip, N.Y.) added her first goal of 2017.

The green and gold had 10 different players register a point in the contest. McKinney fueled the Pioneer offense with a five-point showing (2 G, 3 A). Mallery and sophomore midfielder Trish Brisotti (Mattituck, N.Y.) each notched three goals, while red-shirt senior attacker Alexis Newman (Medford Lakes, N.J.) pitched in two goals and an assist for a three-point day.

LeCompte collected two goals and one ground ball. Douglas had a goal and an assist, in addition to three draws and two caused turnovers. Freshman attacker Angela Deren (Greenlawn, N.Y.) dished out two assists and forced two turnovers.

Between the pipes, junior goaltender Olivia Kirk (Farmingdale, N.Y.) turned aside seven shots for LIU Post. Sophomore cageminder Laura Delorenzo (Wantagh, N.Y.) made nine saves for STAC (4-11, 2-5 ECC).

For the contest, the Pioneers owned a 28-11 advantage in shots, a 15-10 edge in ground balls and a 15-5 differential in draw controls. Additionally, the green and gold were 12-of-15 (80.0 percent) on clears and 3-of-7 (42.9 percent) on free-position attempts.

Head Coach Meghan McNamara and her LIU Post squad wrap up the 2017 regular season on Saturday (Apr. 29), when they host East Coast Conference rival New York Institute of Technology at 11 a.m. at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium in Brookville.
