CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. - Following an appearance in the East Coast Conference Championship semifinals, the LIU Post women's tennis team was voted third in the ECC Preseason Poll, the league announced last week.
NYIT and Queens were the top two teams with the Bears predicted to capture their sixth-straight ECC title.
Scholtze had a stellar debut in a Pioneer uniform, sporting a near-flawless 10-1 record in singles, including a 6-0 ledger at the No. 1 flight. She was also a perfect 7-0 in league play, and twice earned ECC Player of the Week accolades.
Additionally, Scholtze paired up with freshman
Charlotte Hynes to compile an impressive 10-2 mark in doubles, which ranked fifth-best amongst the league's top doubles tandems.
Meanwhile, Arthur, who was named the ECC Rookie of the Year in 2015, went 6-2 in singles matches this season. She owned an unblemished and ECC-leading 5-0 record at the No. 2 position.
The Pioneers open the 2016-17 schedule on Friday, Sept. 8 when they host Wilmington (Del.) at the LIU Post Tennis Courts at 3 p.m.
